B-LINE B22TH-120GLV – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is B22 channel the same as standard 1-5/8 inch strut, and will my existing strut nuts and fittings fit it?
B22 is the 1-5/8 by 1-5/8 inch profile, the most common strut size in the trade, so standard 1-5/8 inch strut nuts, clamps, angle fittings and channel hardware seat in the open slot the same way. The dimensions on the B22TH are 1.62 inches on both height and width, which is the decimal equivalent of 1-5/8.
2) Can I use pre-galvanized B22 strut outdoors or in a wet area?
The B22TH-120GLV carries a pre-galvanized steel finish, which is intended for dry interior use and protected locations. Exposed exterior runs, wash-down areas, parking structures or corrosive environments call for a hot dip galvanized or stainless channel instead, because cut ends and punched edges on pre-galv stock are not coated after forming.
3) What does the TH hole pattern mean on B-Line strut channel?
TH is a punched back pattern rather than a solid back. It gives you through holes along the channel back so you can bolt the strut directly to structure, thread rod through it, or pick up a fastener anywhere along the run without drilling on site. If your detail calls for a solid back channel, order the solid version instead, not the TH.
4) Does the B22TH strut come with nuts, bolts or fittings?
No. B22TH-120GLV is the bare 120 inch channel stick only. Strut nuts, spring nuts, threaded rod, beam clamps, end caps, angle brackets and conduit clamps are all separate line items, so budget them by the connection count when you take off the job.
5) How do I order the exact B-Line strut I was specced, and what part number do I give my supplier?
The part number is B22TH-120GLV. It reads as B22 channel type, TH hole pattern, 120 inch length, GLV for pre-galvanized. If the submittal calls out a different hole pattern or a hot dip finish, the suffix changes and it is a different part, so match all three pieces of the number rather than just the B22.
