B-LINE B281AFLHDG – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Do anchors and channel nuts come with the B-Line B281AFLHDG post base?
No. The B281AFLHDG is the base fitting only, 2.5 lb of hot-dipped galvanized steel. Concrete anchors or floor fasteners and the bolts and channel nuts that tie the strut to the base are ordered separately, and for an outdoor install you'll want hardware with matching corrosion protection.
2) Is the B281AFLHDG post base suitable for outdoor or wet locations?
It is hot-dipped galvanized steel, which is the finish specified for outdoor, damp and corrosive environments. For dry indoor mechanical rooms a plain or electro-galvanized base would do the same job, but the HDG version is what you want anchored to an exterior pad or rooftop curb.
3) What does "flush to side" mean on this B-Line rectangular post base?
It means the strut sits flush with one side edge of the base plate rather than centered on it. That lets you set the post tight against a wall, curb or equipment edge, which a centered base will not do. If you need the channel centered on the plate, you need a different base.
4) What size footprint does the B281AFLHDG base plate take up?
The fitting measures 8 x 3 x 1.62 inches (length, width, height) and weighs 2.5 lb. Use the 8 by 3 inch footprint to lay out your anchor spacing and confirm you have clearance where the post lands.
5) Can this post base be used to stand up a strut post for rooftop pipe or conduit supports?
That's exactly what a rectangular post base does. It terminates the bottom of a vertical B22A, B or C strut post and gives you a plate to anchor down. The hot-dipped galvanized steel handles rooftop exposure. The flush-to-side design puts the post at the edge of the plate rather than the middle.
