1) Why would I put an end cap on a run of strut channel?
Cut strut leaves a sharp open end at eye and hand height. The B221GRN caps that end off so nobody catches a hand or a sleeve on it, and it finishes the run visually where the strut is exposed, such as in mechanical rooms, above racks, or on trapeze supports. It is a closure piece, not a structural fitting, so it carries no load.
2) Is the DURA GREEN finish on the B-Line B221GRN suitable for damp or outdoor locations?
DURA GREEN is B-Line's green protective coating over the 12 gauge steel body. 3) Does the B221GRN end cap need screws or bolts to hold it on the strut?
The B221GRN is a formed 12 gauge steel cap that fits over the end of B12 channel, and no separate fasteners are called out with it. Order one cap per exposed channel end, count your cut ends before you order, and expect to add nothing else to install it.
4) Will a green B221GRN end cap match the galvanized strut already in my building?
It will fit but it will not match visually. The B221GRN carries a DURA GREEN finish, so on a plain galvanized or pre-galvanized B12 run it will read as a green cap on silver channel. The fit is governed by the channel type, B12, not the finish, so mechanically it is fine. If you are standardizing appearance across a facility, pick the cap finish that matches your channel.
