B-LINE B297-30ZN – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How much load will the B-Line B297-30ZN strut bracket carry?
The B297-30ZN is rated for a uniform load capacity of 665 lb. That is a uniform rating, so a concentrated point load at the free end of the 30 inch arm will not reach the same figure. Size your support spacing off the uniform number when you are hanging continuous runs of conduit, cable tray or pipe.
2) What size anchor bolts do the mounting holes on the B297-30ZN bracket take?
The mounting holes are 9/16 inch diameter, which clears a 1/2 inch bolt or threaded rod with room to adjust. Standard 1/2 inch strut nuts, wedge anchors or through-bolts all pass through.
3) How far off the wall does the B297-30ZN bracket project?
It gives you a 30 inch arm, with a 6.25 inch height at the mounting end and a 1.62 inch width. That 30 inches is what you have to work with for run-out from the wall or column face, so it suits wide multi-conduit racks and tray runs rather than a single small feeder.
4) Is the electro-plated finish on the B297-30ZN bracket okay for outdoor or damp locations?
Electro-plated zinc is a thin protective coating meant for dry indoor service. For exterior work, wash-down areas, parking structures or anything corrosive, specify a hot dip galvanized or stainless equivalent instead. The steel body is fine structurally either way, but the plating is the limit on where you hang it.
5) Does the B-Line B297-30ZN bracket come with hardware to attach it to strut?
The B297-30ZN ships as the bracket alone. Budget separately for the channel nuts, bolts and washers at the strut connection and for whatever anchors suit your substrate, whether that is wedge anchors into concrete or through-bolts on steel. Match them to the 9/16 inch holes.
6) What is the exact part number to order this 30 inch B-Line strut bracket?
Order it as Eaton B-Line B297-30ZN. The B297 is the bracket series, 30 is the 30 inch length, and ZN is the electro-plated zinc finish.
