B-LINE B174SHLGRN – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the B-Line B174SHLGRN bracket used for on a strut run?
B174SHLGRN is a left bracing slotted bracket from the Eaton B-Line strut fittings and accessories line. It bolts into a strut channel to brace or angle off a run, with the slots giving you adjustment along its 24 inch length instead of fixed hole spacing. Handed left, so if your brace angles the other way you need the right-hand version.
2) What hole pattern does the B174SHLGRN slotted bracket have?
Six holes total: one 7/16 inch diameter round hole, plus four slots each 1 inch long by 13/32 inch. The slots are what let you shift the bracket along the strut to pick up bolt centers that do not line up exactly, and the 7/16 hole takes standard 3/8 inch strut hardware.
3) Is the B174SHLGRN bracket handed, and does it matter which side I install it on?
Yes, it is handed. This is the LEFT bracing slotted bracket. The slot and hole layout runs one direction, so a left part will not mirror into a right-hand brace position. On a job needing braces both directions, order both hands.
4) How thick is the steel on the B-Line B174SHLGRN bracing bracket?
Quarter inch steel. That is heavy gauge for a strut fitting, which is why the piece weighs 3.7 lb at 24 inches long. It is intended for bracing loads rather than light trim or conduit support work.
5) Does the B174SHLGRN bracket come with the bolts and channel nuts?
No. It is the bracket only, one piece of 1/4 inch steel with six openings. Strut nuts, bolts and washers are separate. Size the hardware to the 7/16 inch hole and 13/32 inch slots, which means 3/8 inch strut bolts.
6) What finish is the DURA GREEN coating on this B-Line bracket?
The B174SHLGRN ships in Eaton B-Line's DURA GREEN finish, a green coated steel. If the rest of your strut run is plain electro-galvanized or hot dip, this bracket will not visually match, so plan for that on exposed work.
