B-LINE B2027SS6 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the B2027SS6 clamp stainless, and can it go outdoors or in a wet area?
It is a Type 316 stainless steel clamp, which is the grade specified for coastal, chemical, and wash-down environments where standard plated steel corrodes. For the joint to behave the same way, pair it with 316 stainless strut and 316 hardware; mixing stainless with plated steel in a wet location is what usually starts the corrosion.
2) What size bolt does the B-Line B2027SS6 strut clamp take?
It takes 1/4-20 hardware. The bolt and strut nut are the mating parts you need to complete the connection, so order 1/4-20 channel nuts and bolts in 316 stainless to match the clamp.
3) Is this clamp sized by pipe trade size or by outside diameter?
By outside diameter. The B2027SS6 is an O.D. pipe conduit clamp, so measure the actual outside diameter of the tube or conduit you are clamping rather than going by nominal trade size. Copper tube, stainless tube, and rigid conduit of the same nominal size do not share an O.D., and that is where the wrong clamp usually gets ordered.
4) What are the dimensions of the B2027SS6 conduit clamp?
The clamp measures .059 x 2.279 x 1.25 inches (height, length, width as published) and weighs .1 lb. The .059 inch figure is the stock thickness of the formed strap, which is why it seats flush in the strut channel rather than standing proud of it.
5) Does the B2027SS6 come with the strut nut and bolt?
No. The B2027SS6 is the clamp only, weighing .1 lb on its own. Budget the 1/4-20 bolt and a channel nut per clamp, plus the strut itself, to complete each support point.
6) What is the combination recess on this B-Line clamp for?
The combination recess lets the clamp seat and register into standard strut channel, so the clamp locates itself on the channel lip instead of sliding while you tighten the 1/4-20 bolt. It speeds up a repetitive run because you are not holding the clamp square with one hand.
