1) What size strut bolt does the B-Line B2030HDG channel nut take?
The B2030HDG is built around a 1/4-20 thread, so it pairs with 1/4-20 strut bolts. If your drawing calls for 3/8-16 or 1/2-13 hardware, this is the wrong nut for that connection.
2) Is the B-Line B2030HDG square nut OK for outdoor or damp locations?
It is hot-dipped galvanized steel, which is the finish specified for exterior runs, parking structures, wash-down areas and other damp locations. For interior dry conditions an electro-galvanized nut would do, but the HDG version is what gets specified where moisture is a factor.
3) How much load will a 1/4-20 B-Line strut channel nut hold?
600 lbs is the rated load capacity for the B2030HDG. That is the nut-to-channel connection value, so your overall hanger capacity is still limited by whatever is weakest in the assembly, the rod, the clamp or the structural anchor above it.
4) Does the B2030HDG come with the spring already on it, or do I assemble it?
It ships as a pre-assembled combination recess square nut, so there is nothing to put together on the lift. Drop it into the channel slot, quarter turn, and it seats against the lips.
5) What else do I need to order with the B2030HDG to hang conduit off strut?
The nut alone is just the connection into the channel. You still need the strut channel itself, a 1/4-20 bolt of the right length for your clamp thickness, and the conduit or pipe clamp. Keep the bolt and clamp hot-dipped galvanized too if the run is outdoors, so you are not mixing finishes at the joint.
6) Is the B-Line B2030HDG the same nut as a plain electro-galvanized channel nut?
Same 1/4-20 function, different corrosion protection. The HDG suffix means hot-dipped galvanized, a heavier zinc coating than the standard electro-galvanized version of the same nut. If a spec sheet calls out HDG, an EG nut is not an acceptable swap on that run.
