B-LINE 1010 X – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the B-Line 1010 X cross fitting connect to 10 x 10 wireway trough?
Yes. The Eaton B-Line 1010 X is built for 10 inch by 10 inch wireway, with height, width and length/depth all listed at 10 inches. It joins four runs of same-size lay-in trough at a four-way intersection. If your run is 4x4, 6x6 or 8x8, this is the wrong size fitting.
2) Is the 1010 X a lay-in type wireway cross, or do I have to pull conductors through it?
It is a lay-in fitting. The cover comes off so conductors drop straight into the fitting and get routed at the intersection, then the cover goes back on. No pulling through a closed body, which is what makes four-way splits practical on a long feeder run.
3) Is this B-Line wireway cross rated for outdoor or wet locations?
No. The 1010 X carries a NEMA 1 degree of protection, which is indoor, general purpose enclosure protection only, against incidental contact and falling dirt. For rooftops, wash-down areas or anywhere water is present you need a NEMA 3R or 4 rated fitting instead, and the whole wireway run has to match that rating.
4) Is the Eaton B-Line 1010 X cross fitting UL Listed?
Yes, it is UL Listed, which is typically what an inspector or a spec on an institutional or government job will want to see on wireway and its fittings.
5) How heavy is a 10 x 10 wireway cross fitting for planning support and hanging?
The 1010 X weighs 14.316 lb on its own. Add that to the trough weight and any conductor fill when you lay out hangers or trapeze supports at the intersection, since a four-way junction is a point where four runs load into one fitting.
6) Do I need a cross fitting or a tee for my wireway run?
Use the 1010 X cross when the run splits four ways at one point, meaning conductors continue straight through and also branch off both sides. If you only need three legs, a tee is the right fitting and it costs you less space on the wall. Both have to match the trough size, 10 inch by 10 inch in this case.
7) What is the 1010 X made of and what is the finish?
Steel body with an ANSI 61 gray painted finish. That is the standard gray used across B-Line wireway, so the cross blends with existing trough and elbows in the same line instead of standing out at the intersection. Painted steel is indoor duty here, consistent with the NEMA 1 rating.
