B-LINE 44-12LAFW – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does the Eaton B-Line 44-12LAFW wireway adapter actually connect?
It transitions a 4 x 4 inch lay-in wireway run to a 4 x 4 inch feed-through wireway run. The wiring method is lay-in to feed-through, so you use it where a hinged lay-in trough meets a feed-through section and you need the two styles joined without field-fabricating a coupling. Both sides are 4 inch by 4 inch cross section.
2) Is this wireway adapter rated for a washdown or dusty industrial area?
It is built to NEMA 12, which covers dust, falling dirt and dripping non-corrosive liquids, not hosedown or outdoor wet locations. The sealing plate kit and gasket kit that ship with it are what maintain that rating at the joint, so they have to be installed for the enclosure to perform as a NEMA 12 system. For washdown or outdoor, you need a NEMA 4 or 4X wireway instead.
3) Can I use this adapter on 6 x 6 or 8 x 8 wireway?
No. This one is sized for 4 x 4 inch wireway on both sides, with a 4 inch height and 4 inch width. For larger trough you need the adapter built for that cross section; forcing a 4 x 4 fitting onto a bigger run will not seal and voids the NEMA 12 integrity of the enclosure.
4) Do I need to buy gaskets or a sealing plate separately for the 44-12LAFW adapter?
No. One sealing plate kit and one gasket kit are included in the carton. That is everything needed to close and seal the transition itself; wireway sections, covers and mounting hardware for the run are separate items.
5) Will this adapter match the gray wireway already installed in our plant?
The body is steel finished in ANSI 61 gray paint, which is the standard gray used across Eaton B-Line wireway and most industrial enclosure lines, so it blends with existing ANSI 61 trough and panel work. If your run is a different color or stainless, it will not match.
