It carries a NEMA 3R rating, so it's built for outdoor use where falling rain, sleet and external ice formation are the concern. That's a rain-tight enclosure, not a washdown or dust-tight one, so keep it out of locations that need 4 or 12. The body is galvanized steel in gray with plated cover screws, which suits exterior walls and unconditioned spaces.

It's a 10 x 10 inch cross section, 96 inches long, so 100 square inches of gross wiring space. NEC limits conductor fill in a wireway to 20 percent of the interior cross section, which gives you roughly 20 square inches of conductor area to work with on a 10 by 10 body. Splices and taps are limited to 75 percent of the cross section at any one point.

No knockouts. The NK designation on the 101096 GRTGV NK means a blank body, so every conduit entry is field-drilled or punched wherever your run needs it. Good when your layout is unusual; if you want factory openings on standard centers, order a knockout version of the GRTGV instead.

Screw cover, not hinged. The cover seats against a flange and is held by plated screws along its length, so you fully remove it to pull wire rather than swinging it open. On a 96 inch section that's a two-hand job, so plan overhead access before you set it high on a wall.

It's certified to CSA C22.2, so it's acceptable for use in Canada as well as the US. That's the standard an inspector looks for on a metallic wireway north of the border.

The 96 inch section is body and screw cover only. A complete run typically needs connectors or couplers to join sections, end plates to close the ends, and fittings or elbows at changes of direction, plus your own anchors since the trough mounts through embossed thru holes. Conduit entries also have to be field-made, because this is the NK, no knockouts version.

The 101096 GRTGV NK is formed from 16 gauge galvanized steel, which is the normal body thickness for a screw-cover wireway of this size and holds its shape across a 96 inch span between supports. Galvanized rather than painted means the coating goes on before forming, so it stands up in damp and unheated areas.

The 101096 GRTGV NK finish is gray over galvanized steel with plated screws, which is the standard GRTGV appearance, so it lines up visually with other GRTGV sections in the same series. Where it may differ from what's on the wall is the body punching: this one is NK, with no knockouts, so its sides are blank.
