It's built to NEMA 3R, so it handles outdoor use where rain and falling debris are the concern, not washdown or hose-directed water. The steel body is ANSI 61 gray and the screw cover seals against a flange with plated screws. For wet-location interiors or areas that get sprayed down, step up to a 4X enclosure instead.

No knockouts. The 4424 GRT NK is the NK (no knockout) version, so every conduit entry gets field-punched wherever your run needs it. That's the usual choice when the trough is feeding multiple gutters or panels and you don't want factory openings you'll have to plug. If you'd rather have pre-punched entries, order the knockout version of the GRT trough instead.

It's a 4 inch by 4 inch cross section, 24 inches long. The 4 x 4 interior is the standard size for feeder taps and splice space between panels on a small service, and the 24 inch length lets you span between two closely spaced enclosures without coupling sections together. Unit weight is 7.753 lb, light enough for one person to set and screw off.

Mounting is through embossed thru holes in the back of the trough body, so it lands directly on a wall, backboard, or strut with your own fasteners. No mounting hardware, brackets, or feet are part of the trough itself, so plan on supplying the anchors suited to your substrate.

Screw cover. The cover is held by a flange and plated screws along the length, which means you back out the screws to open it rather than swinging it. That is the right choice where the trough is a splice or pull point you open rarely; if crews need frequent access, a hinged-cover gutter is faster to work in.

16 gauge steel, CSA Certified. The 16 gauge body is heavy enough that the sides stay square when you're pulling conductors through, and the CSA certification matters if you're doing work that has to be inspected in Canada as well as the US.

The finish is ANSI 61 gray, which is the standard gray used across commercial panelboards, disconnects, and enclosures, so it lines up visually with most switchgear already on the wall. Painted steel with plated screws, intended for the 3R environments it's rated to.
