B-LINE 8824 GGV NK – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the B-Line 8824 GGV NK wireway rated for outdoor or wet locations?
No. The 8824 GGV NK trough is a NEMA 1 enclosure, which is indoor, general purpose only, with no gasketing against water or dust. For outdoor or washdown runs you need a NEMA 3R or 4 raintight wireway instead. The cover is held on by plated screws, not a gasketed clamp.
2) Does this wireway come with knockouts for conduit?
No knockouts. The 8824 GGV NK is supplied blank, so every conduit entry gets punched or drilled in the field where you want it. That is why the NK version is usually specified on custom layouts; if you want factory knockouts you need the knockout version of the trough.
3) What part number do I order for the 8 x 8 x 24 inch no-knockout screw cover trough?
Order Eaton B-Line 8824 GGV NK. The number reads out as the size and type: 8 x 8 inch cross section, 24 inch length, GGV screw cover style, NK for no knockouts.
4) What are the actual cross section and length of the 8824 GGV NK trough?
It is an 8 x 8 inch cross section running 24 inches long, so it gives you a square 8 inch by 8 inch wiring channel in a two foot section. Weight is 13.54 lb.
5) Can I get to the conductors after installation, or is the cover fixed?
The cover comes off. It is a screw cover secured with plated screws along the length, so pulling the screws gives you full access to the wiring channel for adding or re-pulling conductors. Screw covers take longer to open than hinged types, which matters if you expect frequent access.
6) What gauge steel and finish is this B-Line trough, and will it hold up in an unheated warehouse?
14 gauge galvanized steel with a gray finish. The galvanized base gives corrosion resistance suited to dry indoor industrial and mechanical spaces; it is still a NEMA 1 enclosure, so it is not for direct weather exposure.
7) Is the 8824 GGV NK wireway approved for Canadian jobs?
It is CSA Certified, so it can be specified on Canadian projects where CSA certification is required by the inspecting authority.
