B-LINE 8824 GTGV NK – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What size is the B-Line 8824 GTGV NK wiring trough, and how much wire fill space does it give me?
It's an 8 x 8 inch cross section, 24 inches long. That square 8 by 8 opening is the number that matters for fill and for bending radius at conduit entries, and the 24 inch run is the standard length for tying together a bank of panels or disconnects on a wall.
2) Does the B-Line 8824 GTGV NK trough come with knockouts, or do I have to punch my own conduit openings?
No knockouts. The GTGV NK body ships blank, so every conduit entry gets located and punched in the field to suit your run. Good when your entries don't line up with a factory pattern, extra labor when they would have. If you want pre-punched openings, order a knockout version instead.
3) Is this B-Line wiring trough rated for outdoor or wet locations?
No. The 8824 GTGV NK is a NEMA 1 enclosure, which is indoor, dry location only, general purpose protection against incidental contact and falling dirt. It's also a screw cover, not a gasketed one. For a wet or washdown location you need a NEMA 3R or 4 rated trough.
4) How does the cover come off on the 8824 GTGV NK, and can I get back into it after install?
The cover is a full screw cover held on by plated screws. You back the screws out to open the run, so plan a few inches of clearance along the face for a driver. It's fully removable for pulling and re-pulling conductors, but it isn't a hinged or quick-latch lid, so frequent access points may be better served by a hinged cover trough.
5) What gauge steel and finish is the B-Line 8824 GTGV NK made from?
14 gauge galvanized steel with a gray finish. The galvanizing gives it corrosion resistance in indoor service without painting, and 14 gauge is heavy enough that the body won't oil-can when you're pulling conductors through a 24 inch section.
