Chico A is offered in three ways: a 23 cu. in. unit (CHICO-A3), a 23 cu. in. unit packed with Chico Fiber X (CHICO-A4), and a bulk 115 cu. in. unit (CHICO-A05). The 23 cu. in. sizes suit a handful of fittings on a service call; the 115 cu. in. is what you carry for a run of sealing fittings across an industrial conduit system.
2) What is the difference between Chico A3 and Chico A4?
Same 23 cu. in. of sealing compound. The A4 ships with Chico Fiber X included; the A3 is compound only. Fiber is the damming material you pack into the sealing fitting to hold the poured compound in place until it cures, so if you do not already have fiber on the truck, the A4 is the one that completes the job in a single order.
3) What is Chico A sealing compound actually used for?
It is the compound you pour into conduit sealing fittings in hazardous locations, where an explosive atmosphere has to be kept from travelling through the raceway. Once cured it forms the plug inside the fitting and also blocks moisture and dust from moving along the conduit. It is not a caulk or a general purpose electrical sealant for boxes and enclosures.
