1) Can I use an LBY elbow in a hazardous or classified location?
No. The LBY is rated for ordinary, non-hazardous locations. A Class I or Class II area needs an explosionproof conduit body with a listed cover and sealing arrangement, not a service-entrance elbow. For an ordinary commercial or industrial run, the LBY is the right family.
2) What is the difference between an LBY pulling elbow and a regular LB conduit body?
A standard LB gives you a removable cover so you can pull and access the conductors at that point. The LBY is a 90 degree pulling service-entrance elbow: it is used where the conductors are pulled through and the fitting is not intended as a splice or junction point. Pick the LBY on a service-entrance turn where you need the direction change and the pull; pick an LB style body where you need working access at the bend.
