1) What trade sizes does the Crouse-Hinds Type LB Series 5 conduit body come in?
The Type LB Series 5 body is made in six trade sizes, 1/2 inch through 2 inch: 1/2 (LB15-MTC), 3/4 (LB25MTC), 1 (LB35MTC), 1-1/4 (LB45MTC), 1-1/2 (LB55MTC) and 2 inch (LB65MTC). Match the trade size to the conduit run it is going into, not to the wire size. Each one ships with the traditional cover and gasket, so you are not ordering the cover separately.
2) What does a Type LB conduit body actually do, and when do I use one instead of a pull box?
An LB makes a 90 degree turn in a conduit run with the opening on the back of the elbow, which is what you want where a run comes down a wall and turns to pass through it, or turns out of a wall into a panel. The removable cover gives you a hand hole to pull conductors through the bend instead of fighting them around a blind ell. Use a pull box instead when you need to splice, or when several runs come together at one point; an LB is a single in, single out fitting for routing and pulling.

The letter describes where the opening sits relative to the run. That matters on an outdoor or damp wall penetration, where the gasketed cover is what keeps water and dirt off the conductors at the pull point. Nothing else is needed to close the body once the conduit is landed.
5) How do I know which size LB to order if I only know the conduit I am running?
Order by trade size of the conduit, not by the outside diameter or the wire fill. A 3/4 inch EMT run takes the 3/4 inch body, LB25MTC; 1 inch conduit takes LB35MTC. Sizes run 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1-1/4, 1-1/2 and 2 inch. Trade size is nominal, so a 1 inch fitting will not thread onto 1-1/4 inch conduit, and there is no reducing built into these bodies.
