1) What does a Type LL conduit body do, and when do I use it instead of an LB or LR?
An LL conduit body is a 90 degree pull fitting with the opening on the left when you face the removable cover, so the conduit turns left as it leaves the back. The Crouse-Hinds LL25CGN is used where a rigid or IMC run has to change direction along a wall and you still need an access point to pull conductors. An LB turns the run back into the wall or away from the cover face, and an LR turns right. Pick the letter by the direction of the branch, not by size, since all three take the same trade size conduit.
2) Will the Crouse-Hinds LL25CGN work on EMT?
No. This Type LL body is built for rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit, which thread into the hubs. EMT is not threaded, so you would need an EMT connector into a body made for it, or transition to rigid with a fitting first. If your run is EMT, this is the wrong fitting.
3) What trade size conduit does the Crouse-Hinds LL Series 5 outlet body take?
3/4 inch trade size, ordered as LL25CGN. Both hubs are 3/4 inch threaded for rigid or IMC, so your run has to be 3/4 inch on both sides of the turn or you need a reducing bushing to get there.
