1) Does the Emtek 1832 multi point trim include the multi point lock body, or do I need to order that separately?
Trim only. The 1832 set gives you the plates and the handles, and the multi point mortise lock box is not part of it. If you are replacing hardware on a swinging patio door that already has a working multi point gearbox in the slab, the trim is all you need. If the gearbox is bad or the door is new, that lock body has to be sourced on its own. Levers are a required selection on the trim itself, in Medici, Napoli, Octagon, or Padua.
2) What does Door Configuration #8 mean on an Emtek multi point trim, and how do I know it's the right one for my door?
Multi point trim is sold by configuration because the plate has to line up with the gearbox already in the door. If you need to key the opening, the passage version is the wrong one, and a keyed configuration #8 trim is what you want instead. Note the cylinder position and center-to-center are still published for #8 because the trim is dimensionally part of a keyed/non-keyed pair set.
4) Do I have to specify handing when ordering the Emtek 1832 trim?
Handing is a required selection, right hand or left hand, and it is not field reversible on this trim. Stand outside the door, on the side it swings away from: if the hinges are on your right it is right hand. Get it wrong and the lever pitch and plate orientation fight the door.
