Emtek 1L1R55 Multi Point Lock Trim (Large Multi Point Entry Set) - Brass Plates, Modern Rectangular Style (2.9" x 17.5"), Dummy Pair

No lock box comes with it. The 1L1R55 is trim only: two plates and the handles, sized 2.9 x 17.5 inches. You order the multi point mortise lock separately and the trim mounts to it. If you are replacing worn or dated handles on a swinging patio door where the multi point mechanism inside the door is still good, that is exactly what this part is for.

Dummy means no operating mechanism at all. The 1L1R55 pair is fixed trim, so the handles do not turn, nothing retracts, and it is not keyed. Its job is the inactive leaf of a pair of patio doors, or the passive side of a set where the active door carries the working multi point hardware. If you need the door itself to latch and lock, this is the wrong function and you need an active multi point trim instead.

The spacing is 3-5/8 inch center to center between the handle and the cylinder hole, with the cylinder position below the handle and a Euro profile cylinder cutout. That is the layout to measure on your door before ordering: if your existing multi point lock puts the cylinder above the handle, or runs a different center to center, the plate holes will not land on the lock body. The trim is referenced to G-U multi point hardware.

The lever is a required selection and there are 51 styles to choose from, all brass. That spans the L-Square, T-Bar and R-Bar bar levers in Faceted, Hammered, Knurled, Tribeca, Straight Knurled and White Marble treatments, the named contemporary levers (Athena, Helios, Hermes, Luzern, Poseidon, Stuttgart, Argos, Aston, Basel, Breslin, Dumont, Freestone, Geneva, Hercules, Mercury, Myles, Sion, Spencer, Triton), and the traditional side (Cortina, Manning, Milano, Merrimack, Turino, Coventry, Elan, Ribbon and Reed, Rope, Rustic, Santa Fe, Wembley, Arts and Crafts, Hammered). Match the lever you already run on the interior doors and the patio opening reads as one house.

It is residential hardware. Emtek grades the 1L1R55 for residential use, and as a dummy it carries no latching or locking function, so it will not answer a commercial opening's requirements. For single family, custom home and high end multi family patio doors it is on spec; for a commercial egress or corridor door, look at Grade 1 or Grade 2 commercial lock hardware instead.

Seven: Oil Rubbed Bronze (US10B), Polished Nickel Lifetime (US14), Satin Nickel (US15), Flat Black (US19), Polished Chrome (US26), Unlacquered Brass (US3NL) and Satin Brass (US4). Two of those behave differently over time. Unlacquered brass has no clear coat and will darken and patina with handling, which is the point if you want it to age. Polished Nickel Lifetime is the one to pick if you want the plate looking the same in ten years with no upkeep.

Solid brass, both plate and lever, and it is part of Emtek's Brass collection rather than a plated zinc line. Brass is the reason this works on an exterior swinging patio door where a cast pot metal handle would pit. The plate is a large one at 2.9 x 17.5 inches, so it covers the full multi point stile face and hides the previous prep in a retrofit.

Purely mechanical, no electronics and no keyway. The 1L1R55 is a dummy pair with no wiring, no battery and nothing to program. If you are after keyless entry on a swinging patio door, this is not the part, and the choice needs to be made at the multi point lock body rather than at the trim.
