Emtek 455636 Rectangular Full Length Grip by Grip Entrance Handleset - Sandcast Bronze Tubular - Dummy

It doesn't latch at all. The 455636 is a dummy function set, non-keyed, with no working latch or bolt. You get a full length rectangular grip on the outside and a matching grip on the inside, both fixed in place. It's for a door that stays put or is held by something else, like an inactive leaf of a double door, a false panel, or a slider. If you need the door to latch, order the same Rectangular handleset in a keyed entry or passage function instead.

No door prep is needed. The 455636 is surface mounted, so there's no cross bore, no edge bore and no mortise pocket to cut. You're drilling only for the mounting fasteners. That makes it workable on a slab or a panel that can't take a lock prep.

Yes. The Rectangular grip by grip dummy set covers doors from 1-3/8 inch up to 1-3/4 inch, and 1-3/4 inch is what ships as standard. If your door is thicker than 1-3/4 inch, enter the actual thickness in the Door Thickness field when you order so the set is built for it.

That's a common use for it. The inactive leaf usually gets flush bolts or a surface bolt for security, so the trim on it only needs to look right and give something to pull, which is exactly what a grip by grip dummy does. Put the working keyed Rectangular handleset on the active leaf and the 455636 on the inactive one, in the same finish, and the pair reads as matched.

No handing to specify. Because it's a dummy set with grips on both faces and no latch mechanism, the 455636 installs on a left or right hand door the same way. Just decide which face gets which finish if you're doing a split finish.

The grip measures 5-1/2 inches center to center between its mounting points. If you're replacing an existing grip and want to reuse the holes, that's the number to check against the door.

The 455636 itself is not keyed and has no cylinder, since it's a dummy. If the opening needs security, the keying and locking has to come from a separate deadbolt above it.
