Emtek Alexander Appliance Pull, 12" and 18" Appliance Pulls, Schaub Collection

The Alexander appliance pull comes in three mounting styles, and the one you pick depends on what the appliance panel allows. Standard is thru-bolt with decorative caps, so the fasteners pass through the panel and finish with a cap on the show side. Concealed Surface (CS) fastens from behind with nothing visible on the face. Back-to-Back (BTB) pairs the pull with another pull on the opposite side of the panel. Center to center is 12 or 18 inches and the pull stands 2 inches off the face. Measure your existing hole spacing first, because those two center-to-center dimensions are what have to line up.

Match the pull to the panel, not to taste alone. The 18 inch center-to-center Alexander is the size people use on full-height refrigerator and freezer panels where a short pull looks lost and does not give enough grip along the door. The 12 inch suits dishwasher panels, undercounter refrigeration, and beverage centers. If you are replacing an existing pull, the deciding number is the hole spacing already drilled in the panel, since both sizes are fixed center to center.

Screws are included and it ships as a complete set, so no separate fastener order is needed. What you do need to supply is the panel thickness when you order, since the fastener length has to suit the door or panel it is going through. There is a Door Thickness field on the order for exactly that.

Concealed Surface mounting hides the fasteners: they come through from the back of the panel into the pull posts, so the face shows only the pull. Back-to-Back is for a panel that needs a pull on both sides, one fastener set running through and holding both. Standard thru-bolt sits between the two, running through the panel and capping off on the opposite face with a decorative cap. A custom appliance panel or a cabinet-front dishwasher is usually the CS case; a swinging pantry or passage panel worked from both sides is the BTB case.

Because the fasteners have to pass through your panel and land correctly on the other side. On the thru-bolt and back-to-back versions the bolt length is what sets whether the pull draws up tight; on concealed surface the screw has to reach into the post without punching the face. Give the actual measured thickness of the appliance panel or slab door, not a nominal number, and the set comes with fasteners suited to it.

Six finishes across both sizes: Satin Brass (US4), Oil Rubbed Bronze (US10B), Polished Nickel (US14), Satin Nickel (US15), Flat Black (US19), and Polished Chrome (US26). All six are offered on the 12 inch and the 18 inch, and in every mounting style, so a kitchen running a 12 inch on the dishwasher and an 18 inch on the refrigerator can carry one finish through. Those US finish codes are the same designations used across Emtek's cabinet and door hardware, which is how you line the pulls up with knobs, cabinet pulls, and passage hardware in the same room.

The Alexander is specified for residential use. For a multi-family kitchen package or a high-end unit renovation that is the right call, and the brass construction and thru-bolt mounting will take normal household traffic. For a commercial kitchen, a hospital, or a school, where the pull is being hit hundreds of times a day and has to answer to facility spec, look at a commercial-rated door pull instead rather than fitting a residential decorative pull.

Two inches of projection off the face of the panel, plus your hand. In a galley kitchen or against an island run, that is the number to check against the aisle before you commit, and it is also the number that decides whether the refrigerator door still clears an adjacent wall or a cabinet return when it swings. The projection is the same on the 12 inch and 18 inch and does not change with the mounting style.

Brass, both in substrate and material. That matters for two reasons on an appliance panel: brass takes the plated and living finishes properly, and a pull carrying the weight of a full refrigerator door being hauled open several dozen times a day holds its shape better than a hollow tube. The Art Deco profile is machined into the brass rather than applied.
