Emtek Designer Brass Leverset - Elan Lever, Dummy (Pair)

No boring needed. The Elan dummy leverset is surface mount, so it attaches to the face of the door without a cross bore or latch prep. That is what makes it the usual choice for a closet door, a false door, or the inactive leaf of a double door where nothing has to latch.

The lever itself is handed. Elan is offered Left Hand or Right Hand so the lever curves back toward the door edge and points the correct direction once mounted. Stand outside the door and note which side the hinges are on before you pick. Because it is sold as a pair, one set covers both faces of a single door.

It ships as a complete set, two levers with rosettes. The rosette style is part of the order: you can pair the Elan lever with any of the brass rosettes offered, including #8, Lancaster, Oval, Quincy, Rectangular, Regular, Ribbon and Reed, Rope, Watford, and Wilshire. Nothing else is required since there is no latch or strike involved.

The Emtek Elan dummy pair is a residential brass leverset with no ANSI grade behind it. For a commercial opening that needs a graded dummy trim, the BEST 9K Series 1DT single dummy trim is Grade 1 heavy duty and non-keyed, and the BEST 7KC Series 1DT single dummy trim is Grade 2 medium duty. The Accentra 455LN Augusta from the 5400 Series is another Grade 1 single dummy cylindrical lever. All three are single dummy trims rather than a two-sided set, so order two if both faces need trim.

The Emtek Elan dummy is sold as a pair, one lever for each face of the door. When only one face needs trim, the Baldwin Estate 5103 half dummy lever with the 5048 rose is a single-side dummy and is offered handed - BAL-5103-LDM is the left hand version and BAL-5103-RDM the right hand. Both are dummy function, so neither operates a latch; they mount as pull trim only.

The Elan dummy is a non-keyed dummy with no latch and no door prep required, so it is strictly for closet and inactive doors. For a door that must latch shut in a comparable residential decorative line, the Baldwin Estate 5103 with the 5048 rose is also built in passage function (BAL-5103-PASS) for hall and closet doors that latch, and in privacy function (BAL-5103-PRIV) for bed and bath doors that need a push-button lock.

Seven finishes are available: French Antique (US7), Oil Rubbed Bronze (US10B), Pewter (US15A), Polished Brass Lifetime (US3), Polished Chrome (US26), Satin Nickel (US15), and Unlacquered Brass (US3NL). The body is brass, same substrate as the rest of Emtek's Brass collection, so a dummy on a closet will read the same as passage and privacy sets on the other openings.

Neither. It is non-keyed with no cylinder and no turn, and the dummy function means the lever is fixed trim that does not retract a latch. If the door needs to stay shut or lock, order a passage or privacy Elan set instead of the dummy.

For thicker leaves, the Hager 2510 passage lever covers 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch, the Deltana 6411 Morant entry lever covers 1-3/8 inch to 2 inch, and the Falcon K101 Grade 1 passage lock covers 1-3/8 inch to 2-1/4 inch. Note that each of those is a latching lock rather than a dummy, so the door will need bored prep and a strike.
