Yes. The Octagon privacy knobset drops into standard door prep with a 2-1/8 inch cross bore. One exception: if you pick the STRETTO rosette, that one needs a 1-1/4 inch diameter bore and a 2-hole door preparation for the thumbturn privacy, so it is not a straight standard-prep install.
2) What door thickness does the Emtek Octagon knob privacy set work on?
The spec table for the Octagon privacy set lists 1-3/8 inch to 1-3/4 inch, which covers standard interior doors and commercial 1-3/4 inch slabs. Emtek also notes the set fits doors between 1-3/8 inch and 2-1/4 inch thick on standard prep, so thicker slabs are handled. There is a Door Thickness field on the order, so state your actual slab thickness when you order and the correct spindle and screw pack goes with it.
3) Does the Emtek Octagon privacy knobset come with a 2-3/8 or 2-3/4 inch backset latch?
Backset is a required choice at order time, 2-3/8 inch or 2-3/4 inch. The standard latch supplied is for a 2-3/8 inch backset, so if your existing bore is 2-3/4 inches off the door edge you have to specify that. Emtek also lists the latch as adjustable between the two backsets.
4) Is the latch and strike included with the Emtek Octagon knob privacy set, or do I order them separately?
Sold as a complete set, latch and strike plate included. You do not need to add a separate latch. The strike faceplate is available round corner or square corner, so match it to the mortise already cut in your jamb.
5) What is the difference between the standard latch, the 28 Degree latch, and the CF Mechanism on Emtek knobsets?
Three latch choices on the Octagon privacy set. Standard Latch is the conventional tubular latch. The 28 Degree Rotation Latch (Latch28) opens with a shorter knob turn, which suits users who cannot rotate a knob a full sweep. The CF Mechanism gives you rosettes with no exposed screws for a clean face, and the 28 Degree latch is included when CF is selected. Pick CF if the look matters, Latch28 if the shorter rotation matters, standard if neither does.
6) Is this Emtek Octagon knob keyed, and what does the privacy function actually do?
Non-keyed. The Octagon privacy set is a bed and bath function: it locks from the inside with a turn button or thumbturn and has no key cylinder, with the usual emergency release from the outside. If you need a key on the outside for an office or exterior door, this is the wrong function.
7) Can I use the Emtek Lost Wax Cast Bronze Octagon knobset on a commercial office or school door?
It is a residential lockset, tubular type, and no ANSI grade is carried with it. For a commercial opening with real traffic you want a graded cylindrical lock instead, for example the Corbin Russwin CK4310 in Grade 1 or the Dexter C2000 privacy knob in Grade 2.
