1) Can I use this weatherhead on EMT or PVC instead of rigid conduit?
No. The CIEFA-2 is built for rigid conduit, which means a threaded connection. EMT and PVC masts terminate differently, so you would need a service head made for those raceways. Match the head to the raceway type on the mast, not just the trade size.
2) Is the CIEFA-2 entrance head suitable for outdoor overhead service drops?
Yes. It is a cast aluminum entrance head, which is the standard body material for an outdoor service mast termination. The head sits at the top of the mast where the utility drop conductors enter, turning them downward so water runs off instead of following the conductors into the conduit.
3) What is the difference between a service entrance head and a conduit LB or condulet fitting?
An entrance head like the CIEFA-2 is the weatherproof top of an overhead service mast: it brings service drop conductors into 2 inch rigid conduit while keeping rain out. An LB or similar condulet is a pull and change-of-direction body used mid-run, usually where conduit passes through a wall. They are not interchangeable, and a service mast needs both a head at the top and whatever pull fittings the run requires.
4) Does the CIEFA-2 come with the insulator or bushing, or do I order that separately?
The CIEFA-2 is supplied as a single entrance head assembly under part number CIEFA-2, one unit per model. Conductor supports, straps, and the mast conduit itself are separate line items on a service mast job, so plan the bill of material to include the 2 inch rigid, mast support hardware, and any clamps your utility requires.
5) Will a cast aluminum entrance head corrode in a coastal or de-icing salt environment?
Cast aluminum is the body material here, so there is no ferrous shell to rust through, but aluminum in direct contact with dissimilar metals or heavy salt spray still wants attention. On coastal work, keep the head isolated from copper or galvanized hardware where you can and use an anti-oxidant compound on aluminum conductor terminations.
