Exit Security Single Door Outswing Door Bar

Actual length of the 1” and 1¼ “ bars: Take the width of each door and subtract 2½” for the 1” bars. Add the widths of the two doors and then add 2½” for the length of the 1¼” bar.

Example....60” opening: One door is 24” the other is 36”. One 1” bar is 21½” and the other is 33½” long. The 1¼” bar would be 62½” long.

Model Number: Example....SB-01-0072. The 01 stands for outswing and the 72 stands for the 72” wide door opening. (Sum of the two 36" door widths)

Package includes: Two 1” square tubing that install permanently on the doors. One 1¼ “ square tubing with four “L” bolts that go across the jamb. The tubing is electrostatic powder coated, red silk screened arrow with red LIFT UP letters. Four “L” bolts 6½ “ long with eight flange nuts. Four step nuts with four elevator bolts. A stick-on caution sign reading “CAUTION This door to remain unlocked during occupancy”, a storing bracket and our most important Exit Security “STEEL GRIP”. With our easy-to-do instruction sheet, installation will be a breeze.

Exit Security SB-01-0036 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is an exit security door bar and how does it work?
An exit security door bar is a metal bar that mounts across the interior of a door to prevent forced entry. It creates a physical barrier that distributes force across the door frame rather than concentrating it at the lock point. The bar typically mounts with brackets on each side of the door frame.
2) Is this door bar compatible with outswing doors?
Yes, this model is specifically designed for outswing doors. It mounts on the interior side and works with doors that open outward. Verify your door swing direction before ordering as inswing and outswing models are not interchangeable.
3) What door widths does this security bar accommodate?
Check the manufacturer specifications for exact width ranges. Most single door bars accommodate standard residential door widths from 30 to 36 inches. Measure your door width and frame-to-frame distance to ensure proper fit.
4) What finish options are available for this door bar?
Exit security bars typically come in metal finishes like steel or aluminum with powder coating. Common finishes include white, bronze, or mill finish. Check the product specifications for available finish options on this specific model.
5) What is the security grade or strength rating of this door bar?
Security door bars vary in strength based on material thickness and construction. Look for bars with heavy gauge steel construction for maximum security. The mounting method and frame attachment points also affect overall strength.
6) Does this door bar meet building code requirements?
Building codes vary by jurisdiction regarding security bar installations. Some areas require quick-release mechanisms for emergency egress. Check with your local building department and fire marshal before installation to ensure compliance.
7) What hardware and accessories come with this door bar?
Most door bars include mounting brackets, the security bar, and installation hardware like screws. Some models include additional reinforcement plates. Review the product contents list to verify all necessary components are included.
8) How difficult is it to install an exit security door bar?
Installation typically requires mounting brackets to both sides of the door frame using long screws into solid framing. Basic tools needed include a drill, level, and measuring tape. Proper frame attachment is critical for security effectiveness. Consider professional installation for maximum strength.
9) How do I maintain and adjust this security door bar?
Periodically check that mounting screws remain tight and brackets show no signs of loosening. Clean the bar and brackets regularly to prevent corrosion. Some models allow length adjustment - follow manufacturer instructions for any adjustments.
10) Are there related security products that work with door bars?
Door bars work well with other door hardware security products like reinforced strike plates, longer hinge screws, and door frame reinforcement kits. Multiple security layers provide better protection than single solutions.
11) What door and frame conditions are required for proper installation?
The door frame must be solid wood or steel construction with adequate thickness for long mounting screws. Hollow metal frames may require special fasteners. The door should be properly aligned and close securely before bar installation.

    Secure Your Space

Posted by Tony on Mar 29th 2024

The heavy-duty construction gives me peace of mind knowing my door is secure. Plus, installation was a breeze, even for a DIY newbie like myself. Just a heads up, though, it may not fit all door frames perfectly, so double-check those measurements. Overall, a solid investment for added security.
