EXO LSP-RGBW – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the EXO Lightscaper RGBW floodlight sit out in the open weather, or does it need to be under a soffit?
Full exposure is fine. The Lightscaper RGBW is UL listed to UL1598 for wet locations and carries an IP66 ingress rating, so driving rain, irrigation spray, and washdown are within spec. The housing is die-cast aluminum with a tempered glass lens, and it can be surface mounted or set at grade. Ambient operating range is -40C to 40C, which is -40F to 104F, so the only real siting caution is a hot enclosed pocket where air temperature climbs past 104F.
2) What does the EXO Lightscaper floodlight mount to, and can I aim it after it is wired?
It comes on a universal 1/2 inch 14 NPS swivel knuckle, so it threads onto any 1/2 inch NPS stem: a landscape stake, a pipe nipple out of a junction box, or a knuckle-threaded pole arm. That is the standard thread on outdoor floodlights, so most existing stakes and stems will take it directly. The knuckle has serrated teeth, so once you set the aim and tighten it, the fixture holds its angle instead of drifting under wind or a bumped mower deck.
3) Will the EXO Lightscaper RGBW run on 277 volts, or do I need a different fixture for a commercial panel?
One fixture covers the whole common commercial range. The driver is universal voltage, 120 to 277V, so the same unit runs off a 120V landscape circuit or a 277V lighting panel with no change in hardware. If the site is 347V, that is a separate build option and has to be called out on the order, not switched in the field.
4) Do I need a DMX controller to use this RGBW floodlight, or will it work on a plain switch?
It works on a plain switched circuit. Color is set at the fixture: RGBW color-select switches are reachable without removing any hardware, and there are 10 switchable color outputs to pick from. DMX is there when you want it. The fixture takes DMX for RGBW channel control, which is what you need for scene changes, fades, or tying a run of fixtures into an architectural show. Buy it for the static color and add the controller later if the job grows.
5) Which beam angle should I order for uplighting a tree versus washing a wall?
Seven optics are offered on the Lightscaper RGBW: 15, 25, 40, 60, and 90 degrees, plus Type IV and Type V. For a tall tree or a column where you want the light to carry, take the 15 or 25 degree. For a general uplight or a facade element at moderate distance, 40 or 60. For a close-in wall wash where the fixture sits near the base, the 90 degree spreads across the surface instead of punching a hot spot up the middle. Type IV is a forward-throw area distribution, useful when the fixture sits at the edge of what it lights, and Type V throws a symmetric round pattern for open areas. The optic is a hardware choice, so pick it before you order.
6) Can the color be changed after the fixture is installed, or is it locked in when I order?
Color is field-adjustable. The RGBW color-select switches are reachable without pulling any hardware off the fixture, so a tech on a ladder can move from blue to green to white without breaking the seal or unwiring anything. There are 10 switchable outputs across the red, green, blue, and white channels. That matters on properties that change color for holidays or events, and it means one stocked item covers several looks instead of a different fixture per color.
7) Can this RGBW floodlight be used as a normal white landscape light, and will it match my existing 3000K fixtures?

Lumen output varies with the color selected, so a saturated red or blue setting will read dimmer than white on the same fixture, which is normal for any RGBW product and worth planning around if you are lighting a large surface in a single color. Wattage runs 18W, 24W, or 30W depending on configuration.
9) Is this floodlight tough enough for a grade-level spot where people, carts, and mowers get at it?
The housing is die-cast aluminum with an IK08 impact rating, which covers a 5 joule strike, and the lens is tempered glass rather than acrylic, so it takes a hit and does not haze or yellow the way plastic does over a few seasons. Finish is a dark bronze matte texture powder coat. IK08 handles incidental contact and debris thrown by equipment. It is not a bollard-grade or drive-over fixture, so keep it out of the wheel path.
10) Can I dim the EXO Lightscaper from the building's existing dimming control?
The driver is 0-10V dimming, so it wires into standard 0-10V controls, panel-level dimming, or a timeclock and photocell setup with a dimming leg, using the two low voltage control conductors. That is separate from the DMX input, which handles RGBW channel control for color scenes. Use 0-10V if all you need is level control on an existing system; use DMX if you want the color to move.
11) What do I have to specify when ordering the EXO Lightscaper RGBW?
Three decisions get locked at order. Beam angle, from 15, 25, 40, 60, 90 degrees, Type IV, or Type V. Wattage, at 18W, 24W, or 30W. 12) Does the Lightscaper have surge protection for an exposed site with long landscape runs?
