EXO SGD-60-LSCS – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the EXO SGD Sling dusk-to-dawn LED mount on an existing pole tenon or pipe?
The SGD ships with a clamp sized for 1-5/8 inch to 2-3/8 inch diameter pipe, so it drops onto standard pipe or tenon in that range. If you're mounting it to a wall or pole instead, the arm is a separate accessory and has to be ordered on its own. It can also go up as a ceiling or surface fixture over a J-box, or hung as a pendant.
2) Does the EXO SGD Sling work on 277V, and is there a high-voltage version?
The standard SGD driver is multi-volt 120-277V, so it drops onto 120, 208, 240 or 277V without changing fixtures. A 347-480V option is offered for high-voltage commercial and industrial services. The driver is 0-10V dimming.
3) Do I need to wire a separate photocell for the EXO Sling dusk-to-dawn fixture?
No separate control is needed. The SGD comes with an ANSI 3-pin locking photocontrol installed, so the fixture shuts off automatically during daylight and comes on at dusk. If you later want centralized or scheduled control, the same 3-pin receptacle takes a standard twist-lock shorting cap or control node, and the driver is 0-10V dimmable for a separate dimming leg.
4) Can the EXO SGD Sling be used outdoors in the rain or in an open parking garage?
Yes. The Sling is listed to UL1598 for wet locations and the housing is IP65 rated, which covers dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction. Typical uses are parking garages, canopies and covered walkways, and the die-cast aluminum housing carries a polyester powder coat for corrosion resistance.
5) What wattage and color temperature do I order for the EXO Sling, or is it field switchable?
The Sling is offered at 40W, 53W and 75W, with output up to 10,000 lumens, in 4000K or 5000K. Lumen and CCT switchable configurations are also available, which lets a maintenance crew set wattage and color on the fixture rather than stocking multiple SKUs. CRI is 70+.
6) Is the EXO SGD Sling DLC listed for a utility rebate?
The Sling is DesignLights Consortium qualified, with some configurations qualifying as DLC Premium. Not every wattage and CCT combination is on the list, so before you build a rebate submittal verify the exact configuration you are ordering against the current DLC Qualified Products List at designlights.org.
7) Will the EXO Sling throw light straight down without spilling into windows or the night sky?
The Sling uses a Type 5 distribution, which is a symmetric round pattern centered under the fixture, so it lights a circle beneath the mounting point rather than pushing light forward. Mounted under a canopy or garage deck it produces zero uplight. For light that has to be cut off at a property line or thrown toward a building face, a Type 3 or Type 4 asymmetric area fixture is the better choice.
8) What color finishes does the EXO SGD Sling come in?
Two: bronze and light gray. Both are a corrosion resistant polyester powder coat over the die-cast aluminum housing. Bronze is the usual match for existing site and building-mounted exterior hardware; light gray tends to be specified in parking structures where the concrete deck is left light.
9) Is the lens on the EXO Sling glass, and will it yellow outdoors?
It's a UV-stabilized polycarbonate drop lens, not glass, which resists impact and vandalism in garages and holds up to sun exposure. It's held by self-retaining screws, so the fasteners stay with the lens when a tech opens the fixture on a lift. Heat dissipating fins on the housing pull heat off the electronics to extend driver and LED life.
