Fernco 1056-22 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will a Fernco 1056-22 coupling join 2 inch PVC DWV pipe to 2 inch PVC DWV pipe?
That's exactly what the 1056-22 does. It's a 2 in. x 2 in. flexible PVC coupling for DWV (drain, waste and vent) work, so both ends take 2 inch pipe with no size transition. It's a same-size straight repair or connection coupling, not a reducer.
2) I need to go from 2 inch down to 1-1/2 inch drain pipe. Can I use the Fernco 1056-22?
No. The 1056-22 is a straight 2 in. x 2 in. coupling, both ends the same size. For a size change you need a reducing coupling sized for the two pipes you're joining, not this one.
3) Is the Fernco 1056-22 coupling suitable for a pressure water line?
No. The 1056-22 is a DWV coupling, meaning drain, waste and vent. That's gravity drainage service only. Don't put it on a pressurized supply line.
4) Is the Fernco 1056-22 a flexible coupling or a solvent weld PVC fitting?
Flexible. The 1056-22 is a flexible coupling, so it slips over the pipe ends and clamps rather than being glued with solvent cement. That matters on a repair: you can pull it onto pipe that's already fixed in place, where a solvent weld fitting would need the run sprung apart.
5) What is the manufacturer part number for the Fernco 2 inch DWV flexible PVC coupling?
Fernco part number 1056-22. That's the number to give a supplier or put on a purchase order for the 2 in. x 2 in. DWV flexible PVC coupling.
