Thomas & Betts C10-8A Flag Terminal

The C10-8A is built for the 10-12 AWG wire range, the standard mid-gauge band for a C series terminal. Stock thickness on the barrel and tongue is 0.040 inch, so it crimps down solidly on stranded copper in that range. It is non-insulated, so if you need a color-coded insulated barrel, this is not the part.

It is drilled for a #8 stud, so it lands on a #8 screw or terminal block stud. On a #10 or 1/4-20 stud the tongue hole will be undersized and you need a different tongue size.

Both CSA and UL are listed for this flag terminal, and it is RoHS compliant. The flammability rating is UL 94 V-0. That combination is what most institutional and industrial specs ask for on a terminal.

The flag shape puts the tongue at 90 degrees to the wire barrel, so the conductor runs parallel to the terminal block face and lands on the stud without bending the wire back on itself. That matters in shallow enclosures and tight raceways where there is no room for a wire loop behind a straight ring tongue. If you have depth to work with, a conventional ring terminal on the same #8 stud does the same electrical job.

Thomas & Betts calls out the ERG4004 as the application tool for this terminal. Use that die set to get the specified crimp; a generic pliers-style crimper on a non-insulated barrel this heavy will not give you a repeatable connection.

It carries a 150 degree C temperature rating, which covers motor terminal boxes, ballast compartments and heater panels where standard insulated terminals would be marginal. Since the terminal is non-insulated, the temperature limit of the finished connection comes down to the wire insulation and any sleeving you add over it.

They are sold each, but ordered in multiples of 50. The inner pack is 50 pieces and the outer carton holds 250. For MRO stocking that means the practical buy is a bag of 50 or a full 250 carton.

Thomas & Betts publishes it at A 0.66 inch, B 0.31 inch, C 0.25 inch and M 0.48 inch, on 0.040 inch stock. Check those against the stud spacing on your terminal block before you commit to a quantity, since flag terminals sit sideways and a crowded block can put adjacent tongues in contact.
