Blackburn FBS4H215A1-48 FLEX BRAID 4 9/16H 3/8 X 3 X 48 IN

It's a flat, flexible tin-plated copper braid connector used to make a current-carrying connection between two pieces of equipment that move, vibrate, or expand relative to each other, such as switchgear, bus, transformer, and disconnect terminations. The braid construction lets the connection flex instead of putting strain on the bolted terminals. It's a 4-hole design, so each end lands on a four-bolt NEMA-style pad rather than a single stud.

The conductor is tin-plated copper, which is the standard plating for outdoor and substation service because the tin slows oxidation on the copper and keeps contact resistance stable at the bolted pad. Tin plating also makes it safe to bolt directly to aluminum bus without a bimetallic washer in most utility practice.

Use the flexible braid where the two terminations move relative to each other: thermal expansion on long bus runs, vibration from breakers or transformers, or a hinged disconnect blade. A rigid link transfers that movement straight into the bolted pads and eventually cracks or loosens them. Where both ends are fixed and the span is short, a rigid bar or a cable connector is the simpler choice. This Blackburn braid is a flat flexible type at 48 inches, so it's aimed at longer expansion or shunt spans rather than a tight jumper.

Country of origin is the United States, which is what a government, utility, or federally funded project submittal will be looking for on domestic sourcing requirements.

Sold each. One FBS4H215A1-48 braid per unit, so order one per connection point, and remember a three-phase run needs three.
