Each end of the LTL400D3406 is a 6-hole pad, so the bushing or bus pad it bolts to needs a matching 6-hole NEMA drilling pattern. Four-hole pads are common on smaller bushings and won't take this terminal. Match the hole count and pattern on both ends before ordering, since the 4000 amp rating only holds if the full pad is bolted up.

A braided link absorbs the movement a rigid bar can't. Transformer and switchgear terminations shift with thermal expansion, settling, and vibration, and a solid bar transfers that stress straight into the bushing pad. The LTL400D3406 is a flexible flat braid, so it takes up that movement while carrying 4000 amps across the joint. If your connection is fixed and in-line with no expected movement, a rigid bus link is the simpler choice.

The plating matters at the joint. The LTL400D3406 uses tin-plated copper, which keeps the contact face from oxidizing and is what lets you bolt it to aluminum bus or aluminum bushing pads without the galvanic problem you get from bare copper on aluminum. Bare copper braid is fine copper-to-copper in a dry indoor enclosure, but tin plating is the safer call on outdoor gear and mixed-metal terminations.

The braid is sold each, one link per unit, and the bolting hardware is not part of it. For a 6-hole pad connection at each end you'll need twelve bolts with nuts, flat washers and Belleville washers, plus joint compound if you're landing on aluminum. Work out how many links you need per phase from your total ampacity, and remember each phase is a separate order line.

Order by manufacturer part number LTL400D3406. In Blackburn's numbering that reads as the large transformer link family at 4000 amps with a 406 mm length, so if your drawing calls for a different ampacity or a different center-to-center length you're on a different part number in the same series.
