Blackburn FB4G12 FLEXIBLE BRAID 1228KCMIL,12 IN LONG

The FB4G12 is a flat copper braid jumper with a lug pad at each end, 12 inches long. It bonds two points that need a low-impedance electrical path but also need to move or vibrate relative to each other: transformer cases, switchgear doors, generator skids, busbar-to-equipment connections, and ground bar jumpers. The flat braid construction flexes without work-hardening the way a solid conductor would.

Two per end. The FB4G12 is a two-hole flexible braid connector, so each terminal pad takes two bolts. Two-hole pads resist rotation under fault current and are what most utility and industrial grounding specs call for on a bolted connection, so plan your ground bar or bus drilling for a two-bolt pattern rather than a single stud.

That is exactly where braid earns its place. Stranded cable handles a fixed run fine, but on equipment that shifts, expands, or vibrates (transformer tanks, motor bases, hinged panel doors, generator sets) repeated flexing fatigues a round stranded conductor at the lug. The FB4G12 uses a flat flexible copper braid, which spreads the bending across many fine strands and takes the movement. For a static run between two fixed points, ordinary stranded copper with compression lugs is the simpler choice.

Country of origin on the FB4G12 flexible braid is the United States, which matters if you are buying against a Buy American or federal project requirement. Confirm the specific clause on your contract, since sourcing requirements vary by program.

The 12 inch figure on the FB4G12 is the overall braid length, and the bolt pads sit at the ends of it. So your two connection points want to be meaningfully closer than 12 inches apart, leaving the braid with a gentle bow rather than pulled taut. A braid installed under tension defeats the point, because the movement it was meant to absorb goes straight into the terminal pads.

Individually. The Blackburn FB4G12 flexible braid is sold each, so a quantity of one gets you one 12 inch braid jumper. Mounting bolts, nuts and washers are a separate line item and need to be ordered to suit your bus or ground bar drilling.

FB4G12. That is both the Blackburn catalog number and the manufacturer part number for the 12 inch flat copper flexible braid with two-hole terminal pads.
