T&B Form 7 bodies and covers are interchangeable with Crouse-Hinds and Appleton Form 7 bodies and covers, so an E37 body takes a competitor's Form 7 cover and gasket of the same size, and a T&B Form 7 cover drops onto an existing Crouse-Hinds or Appleton body. That makes it a straight field substitution when you are matching what is already on the run.
2) Can I use an E37 conduit body outdoors or in a damp, corrosive area?
The body is gray iron, zinc plated and then epoxy powder coated, described as triple-layer protection with two layers of epoxy coating to stop corrosion. That construction is what you want for exterior walls, wash-down areas, parking structures and similar wet or corrosive locations. It still needs the correct Form 7 cover and gasket to close the opening.
3) Why choose a Form 7 conduit body instead of a Form 8 or a standard pull box?
Form 7 is the body style whose covers and gaskets interchange across T&B, Crouse-Hinds and Appleton, so it is the one to specify when you are adding to or repairing an existing run and want the cover you already have on the truck to fit. The E37 also uses a flat back, which gives more cubic inch capacity than a rounded back for the same body size, so you get more room for conductors without stepping up to a pull box. Form 8 bodies are a different cover family and will not interchange with Form 7.
