1) Do I have to remove the ballast to install the EiKO LED24WT5HO T5 LED tube?
Yes. The EiKO LED24WT5HO/46/850-G9D is a ballast bypass (direct wire) tube, so the existing fluorescent ballast has to be removed or disconnected and line voltage brought straight to the sockets. It runs on 120-277VAC, so it works on either a 120V or a 277V commercial circuit without changing the tube.
2) Will this EiKO T5 LED tube fit my existing T5HO fixture sockets?
It uses a G5 bi-pin base in a T5 tube form, which is the same socket as a standard T5 fluorescent lamp. Overall length is 45.81 inches (1,163.60 mm) and diameter is 0.62 inch (15.80 mm), so it drops into a nominal 4-foot T5 housing. The sockets themselves stay; only the ballast wiring changes.
3) Can this 24W LED tube replace a 54W T5HO fluorescent lamp?
That is exactly what it is sized for. At 24W it puts out 3,500 lumens, rated as a 54 watt fluorescent equivalent, at 145 lumens per watt. Light output per fixture will be lower than a brand new 54W T5HO lamp but comparable to one partway through life, at less than half the draw.
4) Can I put these T5 LED tubes on a dimmer?
No. This EiKO T5HO ballast bypass tube is non-dimmable. If the circuit has a dimmer on it, the dimmer needs to be replaced with a standard switch or the tube needs to be fed from a non-dimmed circuit. For dimming control you need a different lamp or a fixture retrofit kit.
