Greenlee 439-2 SpeedFlex Flexible Fish Tape Leader, Stainless Steel Cable
The Greenlee 439-2 SpeedFlex Flexible Fish Tape Leader is engineered to help electricians pull wire through conduit and raceways faster and with fewer snags. Built with a high-strength stainless steel cable and a silver-solder joint that attaches to any 1/8" (3.2 mm) x .060" (1.5 mm) steel fish tape, this leader delivers a slim profile designed to fish farther and faster through tight runs. Beveled edges on the leader are engineered to reduce the possibility of hangups when pulling wire, and the large pulling eye can accommodate up to (6) #10 wires for efficient multi-conductor pulls. As part of Greenlee's SpeedFlex sub-brand, this flexible leader is built from steel construction for reliability on demanding jobsite pulls.

Greenlee 439-2 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the Greenlee 439-2 SpeedFlex leader attach to my existing steel fish tape?
The 439-2 leader has a silver-solder joint that attaches to any 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) x .060 inch (1.5 mm) steel fish tape. If your tape measures that cross section, the leader joins to it. Flat steel tapes in other widths or thicknesses, and fiberglass or nylon rods, are not what this joint is built for.
2) How many wires can I pull at once with the 439-2 fish tape leader?
The pulling eye takes up to six #10 wires attached at one time, which covers most branch circuit multi-conductor pulls. Heavier feeder conductors will not seat in that eye, so a larger pulling grip or head is the right call for those.
3) What is a flexible fish tape leader for, and when would I use a rigid one instead?
A flexible leader like the SpeedFlex 439-2 is for runs with bends and offsets. Its slim profile and flexible configuration let the head follow 90s and kicks in conduit where a stiff head would bind. On long straight runs or where you have to push past an existing wire bundle, a stiffer leader or a push rod gives you more column strength. The 439-2 is the one you want for navigating turns.
4) Does the 439-2 include a fish tape, or do I need to buy that separately?
The 439-2 is the leader only. It is the pulling head that joins to a 1/8 inch x .060 inch steel fish tape, so you need that tape already on the job or ordered alongside it.
5) Is the Greenlee 439-2 leader cable stainless steel or plain steel?
The cable is high-strength stainless steel, with steel construction overall. That matters on damp or outdoor conduit runs where a plain carbon cable can surface rust between jobs.
6) What part number do I order for the Greenlee SpeedFlex flexible leader?
Order Greenlee 439-2. It is a single configuration, the flexible SpeedFlex leader, so there are no length or finish choices to specify.
7) Does the Greenlee 439-2 fish tape leader carry a California Prop 65 warning?
Yes. The 439-2 carries a California Prop 65 warning for nickel, listed for cancer. No reproductive harm warning applies. Facilities buyers who track Prop 65 disclosures on incoming tools should flag it on receipt.
