Metallics SDS3168 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the Metallics SDS3168 drill bit fit my rotary hammer?
The SDS3168 has an SDS-Plus shank, so it drops into any rotary hammer with an SDS-Plus chuck, which covers most 1-inch and smaller rotary hammers. It will not fit SDS-Max or spline-drive hammers, and it is not meant for a standard three-jaw keyed or keyless drill chuck.
2) Can I use this bit to drill holes for conduit straps and electrical box mounting in concrete?
That is exactly the use. Metallics SDS3168 is an electrical-trade hammer bit at 3/16 inch, the common size for masonry screws holding one-hole straps, minerallac clips, strut, and 4-square boxes to concrete or CMU. Run it in hammer-drill mode and clear dust from the hole before setting the anchor.
3) Is the Metallics SDS3168 sold individually or in a pack?
One bit per order, supplied in a pouch. If you are stocking a van or standardizing a crew on 3/16 inch for Tapcon work, order the quantity you need rather than expecting a multi-pack.
