Metallics HABD9 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does a hanger bolt driver actually do on the job?
A hanger bolt has a wood screw point on one end and a machine thread on the other, so there is no head to grip. The Metallics HABD9 driver threads onto the 10-24 machine end and lets you drive the screw point into wood with a drill or wrench, then backs off and leaves the threaded stud exposed for hanging rod, strut, or fixture hardware.
2) Will the HABD9 driver work on 1/4-20 hanger bolts?
No. The Metallics HABD9 is cut for 10-24 thread only. A 1/4-20 hanger bolt will not thread into it, so order the driver matched to that thread size.
3) Is the Metallics HABD9 sold individually or in a box?
The HABD9 is packaged as a bag of 1, so you get a single 10-24 driver per order. Electricians stocking multiple crews usually order several.
