Houzer BG-6400 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Which Houzer sink does the BG-6400 bottom grid fit?
The BG-6400 Wirecraft grid is cut for one sink only: the Houzer NOS-4100 series (NOS-4100-1). It is not a universal grid, so if your bowl is any other Houzer model or another brand, this one will either rock on the bowl radius or sit short of the walls. Match the grid to the sink model number stamped on your spec sheet before ordering.
2) Will a bottom grid stop a stainless sink from getting scratched and sounding hollow?
That is the job of this one. The BG-6400 holds pots, cast iron, and stoneware off the sink floor so the bowl surface does not take the scuffing, and the plastic feet both hold the grid still and damp the clatter when dishes are dropped in. It is a kitchen sink accessory, not a strainer or drain part.
3) Can I use the BG-6400 as a replacement grid for an older NOS-4100 sink I already have installed?
Yes, it is the factory-matched grid for the NOS-4100-1 bowl, so it drops straight into an existing sink of that model as a replacement for a worn or missing grid. No sink work is involved, which is why it is a common MRO reorder line for apartment and hospitality kitchens running that bowl.
4) Do I need any hardware or tools to install the BG-6400 grid?
No install at all. The grid drops into the bowl and rests on its own plastic feet, so there is nothing to fasten, drill, or plumb. That makes it a drop-ship replacement item for property managers restocking unit kitchens with NOS-4100 sinks.
5) Is the Houzer BG-6400 grid stainless steel or coated wire?
It is bare stainless steel wire with plastic feet at the contact points, not vinyl or PVC coated wire. Stainless holds up to hot pans, detergents, and standing water better than a coated grid, which eventually splits at the welds and traps water inside the coating.
6) What finish does the BG-6400 come in, and will it match a satin stainless sink?
One finish only: satin stainless steel. It is the same brushed look as a standard satin Houzer bowl, so it does not stand out against the sink interior. There is no other color or finish option on this grid.
