1) Which Houzer sink does the BG-7100 bottom grid actually fit?
The BG-7100 Wirecraft grid is cut to fit the Houzer PTS-4100 sink bowl only. It is not a universal grid, so it will not sit correctly in other Houzer models or in another brand's sink. If your bowl is not a PTS-4100, measure the bowl floor and match a grid to that opening instead.
2) Does a bottom sink grid actually protect a stainless sink, or is a plastic mat better?
A grid like the BG-7100 stands the dishes off the bowl floor on plastic feet, so pans do not scuff the finish and the grid damps the drumming noise when water hits the bowl. Unlike a solid mat it does not trap water and food under itself, since the stainless wire lets everything drain straight to the strainer.
