Sta-Kon RA2243 INS NYL LKG FORK TRM 22-16 No8 RED

The RA2243 is sized for 22 to 16 AWG stranded copper conductors, which is the red color-coded range on insulated terminals. Red insulation on this terminal matches that 22-16 band, so on a panel where crews color-check crimps, red means small-gauge control or signal wire.

It is a No. 8 stud terminal, so it slips under a #8 screw or stud on a terminal block, breaker lug, or device terminal. The fork is open-ended, meaning you can land it without pulling the screw all the way out, and the locking tangs on the fork resist backing off the stud once the screw is torqued down.

600 V, with UL file E9809 behind it. That covers standard control circuits, 120/208 and 277/480 V panel wiring, and low-voltage signal runs, so MRO and institutional specs calling for a 600 V insulated terminal are satisfied.

Use the locking fork where you need to add or remove a conductor without removing the screw entirely, which is most control panel and terminal strip work. A ring terminal is the choice when the connection must be captive and cannot slide off under vibration at all. The RA2243 splits the difference: it is a fork for fast landing, but the locking tangs grip the screw head so it does not walk off the #8 stud.

The conductor barrel is copper, so it is intended for copper conductors only. Do not terminate aluminum wire with it; aluminum requires a terminal specifically marked AL or AL/CU with the appropriate inhibitor compound.

The RA2243 uses a nylon insulating sleeve rather than vinyl. The insulation is red, which also color-codes the 22-16 AWG range.

It needs a crimp tool matched to insulated terminals in the 22-16 AWG range, which is the red nest or red-marked die on most insulated-terminal crimpers. Using the yellow or blue station will under-crimp or crush the nylon sleeve. Strip to the barrel length, seat the conductor fully, and crimp on the barrel, not on the fork.
