Sta-Kon RA18-250FP INS NYL PIGGY BCK 250 DISC No22-18

A piggyback disconnect like the Sta-Kon RA18-250FP has a female receptacle crimped to your wire plus a male tab on its back, so you can land a wire on a terminal and then stack a second disconnect on top of it. Use it where two circuits have to share one 1/4 inch male spade tab, common on relays, switches, motors and HVAC contactors. A plain female disconnect only terminates one wire on the tab.

It takes 22 through 18 AWG stranded or solid wire. That is the range the red insulation indicates on Sta-Kon terminals, and it is called out in the part description as No. 22-18. For 16-14 AWG you need the blue-coded terminal instead, not this one.

Nylon/polyamide. Nylon holds up better to heat and abrasion than vinyl PVC insulation and resists cracking when the terminal is flexed, which is why it is the usual choice for appliance, HVAC and under-hood work. The sleeve is red, the standard color code for 22-18 AWG.

The conductor barrel and contact are brass. Brass crimps onto copper wire without the galvanic concern you get pairing copper with aluminum, so it is appropriate for standard copper building, appliance and control wiring.

Use an insulated-terminal crimper sized to the red 22-18 AWG die. A nylon-insulated terminal needs a crimp tool that forms the barrel through the sleeve without splitting it, so avoid uninsulated or open-barrel dies. Strip length should leave the insulation butted against the terminal sleeve with no bare copper showing past the crimp.
