1) What wire size does the Sta-Kon RJ9731 ring terminal take?
The RJ9731 is sized for 1/0 AWG conductor. It is a nylon insulated ring terminal with a copper barrel, so it crimps onto 1/0 copper cable only. If your feeder is a different gauge, pick the terminal rated for that gauge instead, since an oversized barrel will not hold a proper crimp.
2) Is this blue ring terminal rated for 600 volt circuits?
Yes. The Sta-Kon RJ9731 carries a 600 V rating, which covers typical commercial branch and feeder work up to 600 volts. It is also UL listed under file E9809.
3) Can I crimp the RJ9731 with standard hand pliers?
No. This is a 1/0 AWG barrel, which is heavy-gauge lug territory. It needs a hydraulic or large mechanical crimper with the correct die for 1/0 copper. Ordinary insulated-terminal hand pliers sized for 22 to 10 AWG will not compress the barrel.
4) Will this terminal work on aluminum conductor?
The RJ9731 barrel is copper, so it is for copper conductor. For aluminum or AL/CU feeders use a terminal rated for aluminum; crimping aluminum into a copper-only barrel creates a dissimilar-metal connection.
5) Why is the Sta-Kon 1/0 ring terminal blue instead of the usual color code?
Blue is the nylon insulation color Sta-Kon uses on this 1/0 AWG terminal. On large-gauge Sta-Kon terminals the jacket color identifies the part within the series rather than following the small-gauge red/blue/yellow convention, so confirm by the 1/0 wire size and the 3/8 inch stud hole, not by color alone.
