1) What wire size does the Sta-Kon RM9731 ring terminal take?
The RM9731 is sized for 4/0 AWG conductor. It is a one-size barrel, so smaller cable will not crimp up properly in it and larger will not enter. If you are terminating 4/0 battery cable, feeder, or a grounding conductor, this is the right barrel.

3) Is this ring terminal copper or aluminum, and can I use it on aluminum conductor?
The barrel is copper, so it is intended for copper conductor. Aluminum cable needs a terminal rated AL or AL/CU; putting aluminum into a copper-only barrel is a dissimilar-metal connection you do not want on a feeder.

Blue is the insulation color on the RM9731. On small insulated terminals blue is the industry color code for 16-14 AWG, but that code does not run to heavy lugs like this one: the barrel here is 4/0, so go by the stamped wire size, not the color.
5) Do I need a special crimper for a 4/0 Sta-Kon ring terminal?
Yes. A 4/0 copper barrel is well beyond hand-plier range; it takes a hydraulic or large mechanical lug crimper with the correct die for the barrel. A standard insulated-terminal hand tool will not make a code-quality crimp on this size, and the crimper and dies are a separate purchase from the terminal.

Nylon. The RM9731 is a nylon insulated ring terminal, which holds up better to heat and abrasion than vinyl sleeving and is what most panel and switchgear specs call out.
