1) Is this nylon insulated ring terminal rated for 600 volt circuits?
Yes. The Sta-Kon RD10721 carries a 600 V rating, which covers typical commercial branch circuits, panel and control panel terminations. It is also UL recognized under file E9809.
2) Is the barrel on the RD10721 ring terminal copper or aluminum?
Copper. That makes it a copper-conductor terminal, not a dual-rated AL/CU lug, so use it on copper wire. For an aluminum feeder you need a separately listed AL9CU connector instead.
3) Is a nylon insulated ring terminal better than a spade or fork terminal for panel work?
A ring terminal is the right choice anywhere the connection must not back off, because the stud has to be fully removed to release it. Fork and spade terminals slide out from under a loosened screw, which is faster for service work but is not acceptable on vibration-prone or safety-critical terminations such as grounds and motor leads. The RD10721 is the ring style with a nylon insulating sleeve, which gives better abrasion and pull-out resistance at the barrel than a plain vinyl sleeve.
4) Why is this Sta-Kon ring terminal red, and does the color mean anything?
Red is the insulation color on the RD10721. On nylon insulated terminals the color is a quick visual size code on the job, so an electrician pulling from a bin can tell terminals apart without reading the stamp. It does not change the electrical rating, which is 600 V.
