1) What wire gauge does the Sta-Kon RB727M ring terminal accept?
The RB727M takes 18 to 14 AWG stranded copper wire. That is the blue insulation range on standard color-coded terminals, so if you are pulling 16 AWG control wire or 14 AWG branch wire, this is the right barrel. For 22-16 AWG you need a red terminal instead, and for 12-10 AWG a yellow one.
2) Is the Sta-Kon RB727M insulated, and do I still need heat shrink over it?
It is a vinyl insulated terminal, so the barrel and the crimp area are already sleeved. No additional heat shrink is needed for general use. The vinyl sleeve is not a sealed boot, though, so for wet or outdoor terminations you would want an adhesive-lined heat shrink terminal rather than vinyl.
3) Is the RB727M terminal copper or aluminum, and can I use it on aluminum conductors?
The RB727M barrel is copper. Copper terminals are for copper conductors; terminating aluminum wire calls for an AL/CU rated connector, not this one. Dissimilar metal contact at a lug is where corrosion and heating start.
4) Is the RB727M loose-piece or tape-mounted for a crimp machine?
These come tape mounted, which is the reeled format feeding semi-automatic and automatic crimp presses on a production bench. If you are crimping by hand one at a time out of a pouch, loose-piece terminals are the easier buy; tape mounting is worth it when you are running volume through a machine.
