Metallics JSHK1SS – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size are the Metallics JSHK1SS stainless J-hooks?
The JSHK1SS J-hook measures 1-1/4 by .148, the .148 being the wire gauge of the hook itself. It is stainless steel, so it holds up in damp, exterior, and washdown locations where a plated hook would rust.
2) How many J-hooks come in a jar of Metallics JSHK1SS?
They ship 100 to a jar. That is the buy unit, which suits an electrician stocking a van or an MRO crib rather than ordering hooks a few at a time.
3) Are stainless steel J-hooks worth it over zinc plated for outdoor or coastal work?
For anything exposed to weather, salt air, or regular washdown, yes. The JSHK1SS is stainless throughout, so there is no plating to wear through and start bleeding rust. On dry interior work a plated hook does the same job for less, so save the stainless for the exposed runs.
