Metallics JSHK6 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size is the Metallics JSHK6 J-hook and how many come in a jar?
The JSHK6 is a 1 inch J-hook made from .120 galvanized steel with a zinc finish, packed 100 pieces to a jar. One jar covers a decent run of cable or conduit support without reordering mid-job.
2) Are Metallics JSHK6 J-hooks okay for damp or unheated areas like parking garages and warehouses?
The JSHK6 hook is galvanized steel with a zinc coating, so it holds up better than bare steel in damp, unconditioned spaces such as garages, warehouses and mechanical rooms. For direct outdoor exposure or corrosive wash-down areas, a stainless support is the safer call.
3) What are 1 inch J-hooks like the Metallics JSHK6 actually used for?
They are electrical support hardware, used to hang and route cable, low-voltage bundles or small conduit off structure, joists or threaded rod. The 1 inch size is for light bundles and single runs; larger diameter hooks are the choice when you are carrying a heavy cable bundle.
4) Do Metallics JSHK6 J-hooks come with screws or mounting hardware?
The JSHK6 is sold as the hooks only, 100 to a jar. Fasteners, rod, beam clamps or whatever you are anchoring to are ordered separately, so plan the mounting hardware into the same order.
5) Is the .120 on the Metallics JSHK6 J-hook the wire thickness or the hook opening?
On the JSHK6 the 1 inch is the hook size and .120 is the steel thickness of the hook material. So you are getting a 1 inch capacity hook formed from .120 stock, galvanized and zinc finished.
6) What part number do I order for the Metallics 1 inch galvanized J-hook?
Order Metallics JSHK6. That is the 1 inch, .120 galvanized steel zinc J-hook in the 100 piece jar, and it is the only configuration offered under that number.
