Metallics JSHK4 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What size is the Metallics JSHK4 J-hook?
The JSHK4 measures 3 by .312 inches, and it is a steel hook with a zinc finish. Order by model JSHK4 if you need to match hooks already on the job.
2) How many J-hooks come in the Metallics JSHK4 pack?
The JSHK4 is sold 50 hooks to a jar, so one order covers a run of supports rather than a single point. The jar pack keeps the loose hooks together in a gang box or on a cart.
3) Are zinc plated steel J-hooks okay for outdoor or damp locations?
Zinc plating on the JSHK4 is a mild corrosion coating meant for dry indoor use. For exterior, wash-down, or coastal work, specify a stainless or hot-dip galvanized hook instead; zinc plated steel will bloom rust in those conditions.
4) What are J-hooks like the Metallics JSHK4 used for in an electrical rough-in?
J-hooks are open support hooks used to carry runs of low voltage and communications cable above a ceiling or along structure, as an alternative to tray or conduit. They hold the cable in a cradle so bend radius is preserved and cable can be added later without pulling the whole bundle. Metallics catalogues the JSHK4 with its electrical supplies.
