1) What latch does the Kaba Access 3000 mounting plate work with, and is it included?
The plate drives an Adams Rite 4510, 4710, or 4910 mortise latch, and the latch is not included. Neither is the strike. Order the latch separately from Adams Rite, and the strike from either Adams Rite or Kaba Ilco. What does come in the box is the installation instructions, a full-scale template, the combination change key, and a screwdriver.
2) Do I have to specify handing when ordering a Kaba Access 3000 mounting plate assembly?
Handing matters here. The assembly is built right hand or left hand, so determine the door's hand before you order. Each backset is offered in both hands, so the two choices are independent: pick the backset your Adams Rite latch uses, then pick the hand.
3) Can I still get in with a key if someone forgets the code on a Kaba Access 3000?
Yes. The assembly accepts a Maximum Security (MS) mortise cylinder for key override, so a key opens the door regardless of the combination. That also lets a facility fold the door into an existing master key system, keyed alike or keyed differently across openings. The cylinder is not part of the assembly.

The front housing is cast metal, force resistant, with a clutch protected thumbturn so wrenching the turn does not carry into the mechanism, and the pushbuttons are solid metal and vandal resistant. Dormakaba rates the assembly weather resistant, so an unsheltered storefront or a gate side entry is within scope.
6) Does the Kaba Access 3000 need power or wiring at the door?
No wiring. It is a mechanical pushbutton lock: the keypad releases the Adams Rite mortise latch directly and the combination is changed with the supplied change key, not at a computer. Nothing to run to the door, and nothing to fail when the building loses power. If you need audit trail or scheduled access, this is the wrong type of lock and you want a credential based electronic device instead.
