Kawneer KW033539-29 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the Kawneer KW033539-29 housing assembly door left-handed or right-handed?
It is a right-handed part. The housing assembly door is built in a fixed right-hand orientation, so it only goes on a right-handed Falcon 2090 device. If the door you are servicing is left-handed, this is the wrong part and you need the left-hand version of the housing assembly door.
2) What exit device does the KW033539-29 housing assembly door fit?
It is a service part for the Falcon 2090 series exit device, supplied as a direct replacement housing assembly door. It is not a complete exit device and it is not intended for other Falcon series or other brands of device.
3) I need to repair a panic bar, not replace it. Is this just the cover piece?
Correct, this is a component only. The KW033539-29 is the housing assembly door for a Falcon 2090 device, a genuine Kawneer service part sold for repair and restoration work rather than as a complete panic device. If the device itself is worn out or the latch mechanism has failed, you need a full exit device, not this piece.
4) What finish does the Kawneer KW033539-29 come in, and will it match my existing Falcon 2090 hardware?
Black only. The housing assembly door is supplied pre-finished in black so it blends with black Falcon 2090 hardware. If the device on your opening is aluminum or another finish, this part will not match visually, even though it is the correct component.
5) Do I need to order anything else with the KW033539-29, or is it complete on its own?
It is sold as one part, the right-hand black housing assembly door for the Falcon 2090. Confirm the handing of the device on the opening before you order, since the handing is fixed and cannot be reversed in the field. Any other worn components of the device, rods, latches, or trim, are separate service parts.
6) Is this Kawneer service part suitable for commercial buildings or is it residential hardware?
Commercial. The KW033539-29 is classed as commercial door hardware and is used in office buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, retail, industrial and warehouse space, multi-tenant residential properties, and government buildings, anywhere a Falcon 2090 exit device is in service.
7) Why order the genuine Kawneer part instead of a generic replacement housing door?
Fit. The KW033539-29 is a factory-authorized Kawneer service part made specifically for the Falcon 2090 device, so the mounting geometry and the handing line up with the device already on the door. That matters most to property managers standardizing a building on one device, where a mismatched aftermarket cover creates an inconsistent look and an uncertain fit.
